Portugal and France Draw in Euro 2024 Quarterfinal
France Advances to Semifinals on Penalty Kicks
Cut-backs Prove Fruitful for Mbappe
In a thrilling quarterfinal match at Euro 2024, Portugal and France played to a 0-0 draw after extra time, with France ultimately advancing to the semifinals on penalty kicks (5-3).
Kylian Mbappe, who has been in impressive form throughout the tournament, once again proved to be the difference-maker for France. His trademark cut-backs from the left flank caused constant problems for the Portuguese defense, and he nearly scored the winning goal in extra time.
Portugal had their chances as well, but they were unable to find the breakthrough. Joao Felix missed a golden opportunity in the penalty shootout, ultimately costing his team a place in the semifinals.
France will now face either Spain or Italy in the semifinals, while Portugal's Euro 2024 journey comes to an end.
